FIRST POST!
Welcome to Domestic Quests
A blog about a family’s adventures with our hobbies, collections, general geekery, and our constant struggle to keep it all clean and organized.
Who Are We?
We are The Family: The Dad, The Mom, and The Boy.
The Dad
I’m the one writing this blog. I’ve been a geek since middle school, when I first discovered Final Fantasy and devoured every Star Wars novel I could find. These days my interests include board games, D&D, jigsaw puzzles, fantasy novels, miniature painting, anime, old cartoons and comics, and classic console video games.
The Mom
She’s simply the best. She encourages us to pursue our hobbies and get out to play with friends. She’s not a huge geek herself, though she absolutely loves Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters.
The Boy
He’s nine years old and quickly following in his father’s footsteps. D&D, board games, and comics are becoming his passions. He also enjoys video games, cartoons (Scooby-Doo and Total Drama), and anything related to science.
This Year’s Goals
In the year of our Lord 2026, we—The Family—have set a few goals for our future geekery:
Play more D&D. Play with friends, try solo play, play with strangers, and attend at least one convention to play there. We just want to play more.
Update this blog regularly. We’re trying to stay accountable, so we decided to document our goals here. We’ll keep you updated on our progress—successes and failures alike. The Boy even wants to publish some of his new D&D ideas.
Get it together. We have stuff. Lots of stuff. Games, books, toys, dice—so much stuff. And it’s… not very organized. Our miniatures are everywhere, our dice roll all over the house, and we rarely put things back where they belong. That will change. This year we’re working on organizing all of our hobbies and making them more useful and accessible.
Welcome again to our journey. We hope you follow along and enjoy the adventure.
